Aragonite is a mineral composed of calcium carbonate (CaCO3) with an orthorhombic crystal system. It forms in sedimentary environments, such as in shells and skeletons of marine organisms, and in hydrothermal veins. Aragonite has a hardness of 3.5-4 on the Mohs scale and exhibits a distinctive crystal shape.
