Celadonite from Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India is a rare green mica-group mineral formed by the alteration of basalt within the Deccan Traps volcanic region. It typically occurs as fine green coatings or inclusions inside cavity minerals such as calcite, heulandite, and stilbite. Celadonite is very soft (Mohs hardness ~2), with a dull to waxy luster and colors ranging from olive to blue-green. Specimens from this area are valued by collectors for their geological significance and association with classic Deccan Trap minerals.
