Phantom Quartz is a unique variety of quartz crystal that contains visible internal "phantoms" outlines or layers of earlier crystal growth trapped inside the main crystal. These ghost-like inclusions are created when a crystal stops growing temporarily, becomes coated with a thin layer of other minerals or sediment, and then resumes growing over that layer.
The result is a crystal within a crystal, often forming repeated internal shapes that mimic the external structure of the quartz itself. Phantoms may appear in various colors, including white, green, gray, or brown, depending on the type of mineral inclusions present (such as chlorite, hematite, or clay minerals).
Each piece of Phantom Quartz displays a record of its complex geological history, formed over long periods through natural changes in the crystal's environment.
